It took a few tries, but FC Edmonton finally defeated the Montreal Impact.

Before the group announced in 2,306 at Foote Field on Sunday, Kyle Porter's fifth minute, which was enough to give Edmonton the victory 1-0 in the North American Soccer League action.

Edmonton, now 7-2-4, next visits at the NSC on Monday, July 4 Minnesota 4, then returns home on July 13 to play the league-leading Carolina RailHawks, who is now the only team the locals have yet to beat.

Montreal, 2-3-7, will continue to try to get back on track. The effect is only two victories this season against Edmonton, and the convincing win. Montreal scored 5-0 and 2-0 shutouts.
